Village of Chuluc End-of-Summer Tour, August 2025

This summer, 13 missionaries from Locust Grove traveled to their sponsored village of Chuluc. For a week, they shared the love of Christ with the community, focusing on medical and dental care, construction projects, and spiritual fellowship.  The team hosted medical and dental clinics, completed two construction projects, and spent quality time with the people. They also held a week-long Bible school with crafts and worship, all centered on the story of Daniel and the Lions' Den. The week concluded with a night of camping in the village and a theatrical performance of the Daniel story by older scholarship students, complete with lion costumes.

Since the summer trip, our AMF Guatemala team continues the ministry in Chuluc, thanks to the generosity of Locust Grove. Contributions funded a new pump for the school well and addressed various medical needs within the community.  We are also working on future plans to add a teacher to the local school to support grades 7–9 and to identify more families in need of new homes.

During our August visit, the team visited the site of the next new home, which will be built for 22-year-old Sergio and his family. Sergio shared his memories of playing with Locust Grove missionaries as a child during the early years of the partnership and fondly remembered the missionaries singing for his grandmother Josepha - who doesn't wear shoes and only speaks an ancient Mayan language. Now a man, Sergio and his young family will be blessed with a new home to shield them from the rain and cold.

In this video, you can see our report from the August visit and a glimpse of Sergio's current home. The people of Chuluc see Locust Grove as their extended family and are eagerly awaiting the next mission trip. Thank you to the missionaries, sponsors, and donors who are committed to sharing Christ's love with the people of Chuluc over the generations.
