My name is Diego Huertas, I’m 23. I am currently working in the area of real-time analysis and management, a field that has allowed me to gain experience in quick decision making, effective communication and the organization of processes that require precision and consistency. In addition, I am a certified translator and medical interpreter, which motivates me to continue growing in the professional field and to expand my knowledge in different fields.
Working with Awakening Hope has been an experience that I deeply appreciate. Beyond work, it has allowed me to meet people with great human qualities and be part of an environment where commitment, empathy and mutual support are encouraged. This collaboration has not only given me the opportunity to contribute my skills, but also to strengthen values that I consider essential for any project that seeks to generate a positive impact

I am a translator and interpreter in the process of graduation. I love learning from everything around me and my dream is to be able to contribute in a meaningful way to my country. Thanks to Awakening Hope and AMF this dream has been fulfilled while I practice my profession. I was born into a Christian home, where I was taught to fear God and love one another.

My name is Ester Elizabeth Ramirez Fajardo, I am 26 years old. I am a person passionate about nature and adventure, I like to explore the beauty of volcanoes and run among amazing landscapes. I am very passionate about music and singing. I have always loved working with children as I like to make a difference in their lives. My background in International Translation and a Correspondence Technician demonstrates my commitment to learning and global communication. In short, I am a versatile person, committed and full of passion for life.
Working with Awakening Hope has been a beautiful experience for me, since each of the people who make up the team are committed to making a change in the communities and above all bring the message of God to each of the families, Supporting the teams also has helped me to understand how they work and therefore improve on certain aspects of my part to be able to fit and perform with excellence each of the objectives of the mission teams.

My name is Adriana Lucía Marroquín Turcios, I am 23 years old and was born in Jalapa, Guatemala. Currently I have the title of Technician in Translation and International Correspondence, which has been an important step in my professional training and in strengthening my language and communication skills.
One of the most significant experiences in my professional life has been my work with Awakening Hope, where I have had the opportunity to serve as an interpreter for different missionary groups visiting communities with diverse needs. This work has allowed me to collaborate in support projects related to food, community activities, schools and delivery of materials, as well as communication with families sponsored by these missions. It has been a very enriching experience, which I have deeply enjoyed, as it has allowed me to use my knowledge to serve others, grow both professionally and personally and reaffirm my vocation for translation and interpretation with a human and social approach.

I'm 28, single, and work as a customer service quality analyst at Amazon. I chose my current course of studies because I want to help improve employee performance, motivation, and job satisfaction, and contribute to a more positive work environment. I have learned techniques in both recruitment and training, as well as various courses in developmental psychology, childhood, and adulthood.
Being part of an organization like Awakening Hope where the priority is to help others is motivating. I am very pleased with the people who are part of the project, the love and kindness with which they receive me is pleasant, and I enjoy sharing with people, regardless of age, culture, or traditions. Because of the welcoming spirit of the mission teams I feel comfortable contributing with my skills. When I am with the teams, I feel like family.

Associate’s degree in Translation Studies. Currently completing bachelor’s thesis in Linguistics, specializing in English–Spanish translation and interpretation.
I’m Daniela, a 26-year-old linguist and translator passionate about humanitarian work and community connection in Guatemala. Since 2024, I’ve been working alongside associations and NGOs supporting initiatives focused on children, education, and community wellbeing.
Over the past year I’ve supported organizations, such as Awakening Hope, across the different regions of Guatemala by helping connect individuals and families with access to healthcare, safe housing, and essential support. This experience has deepened my awareness of the country’s social realities and strengthened my commitment to working with empathy, respect, and responsibility. My goal is to support volunteers by helping them navigate language, cultural context, and the emotional realities of community work, ensuring their presence is respectful and meaningful. Also, for this year, I’m currently preparing to become an English teacher, with the aim of empowering children through language and education.

Completed diversified studies at the Instituto Técnico Vocacional.
I am Darwin Mayen and I am 41 years old. From a young age, I was naturally curious and enjoyed taking toys apart to understand how they worked. As the eldest of seven siblings, I began assisting my father with his metal work manufacturing business at age 10. During my vocational training, I studied carpentry and industrial mechanics. I later pursued a degree in Industrial Mechanical Engineering at the university level.
My interest in English began at age 18. I initially improved my understanding of the language by translating song lyrics. At age 24, I met my wife through a church group; since she translated sermons, we began practicing and speaking English together. We were married when I was 27.
Through my wife’s influence, I began translating for missionary groups in 2019. After a break during the pandemic, I resumed this work in 2023. Serving as a translator for groups that come to bless my fellow citizens has been a deeply satisfying, uplifting, and blessed experience and working with Awakening Hope has been a very pleasant experience. Being part of all the help and seeing the good heart of the mission teams fills my heart and motivates us all to follow and seek God each day. The experience makes each of us want to be more involved, and to see the hand of God working through Christians who want to do God’s will.

My name is José Andrés Tarragó, and I’m 27 years old. I grew up in a Christian household with my parents, Gabriel and Ingrid, and my older brother, Pablo. I remember that my parents always loved serving God; they would take us to different places where they preached and led children’s ministries. It was certainly a beautiful time.
Ever since then, I knew I wanted to become a psychologist so I could help people, and last year I achieved that goal. I am now a licensed psychologist. I learned about Awakening Hope through a friend who works as an interpreter with them. She told me about the beautiful work they do in communities in Guatemala, and I was truly excited about the opportunity to serve with them. That first week was life changing. I saw all the help provided and the many different ministries, the excitement within the community, I saw houses being built, kids being happy and lives changed through love.
My desire is to continue growing in my faith, professionally, and as a partner alongside the missionaries of Awakening Hope.
