Magnify the Ministry

Our “Magnify The Ministry” initiative just wrapped up an incredible few weeks in the villages of Potrerillo, Chuluc, San Lorenzo, San Antonio, and Pahuit.

The Impact: Lives Touched - Our Guatemala team went all in, staying overnight in villages to deeply connect with the communities, and the results have been encouraging:

  • Deep Connection: Jake, Javi, and Jorge engaged with over 1,500 people through visits, overnight stays, community meals, worship, and fireside Bible studies.

  • Intimate Outreach: In each sponsored village, the team conducted multiple days of in-home visits with 50-60 families, addressing both spiritual and physical needs through conversation and group prayer.

  • Pure Joy: Hundreds in each village attended the evening events, sharing a rare treat of grilled meat that we provided along with staples provided by the people- roasted tomato salsa, tortillas, beans, rice milk, pastries, and Mayan coffee. For people who can rarely afford meat or have the luxury of community gatherings, the reaction was pure joy and thankfulness as they worshipped and heard the Gospel.

Uncovering Needs & Looking Ahead: - The home visits revealed previously unknown, deep-seated needs, including struggles with depression, grief, loneliness, addictions, and new medical challenges. Our team is now prayerfully addressing these issues, supported by your generous financial contributions and prayers.

The best news? Every village has expressed a strong desire to continue these gatherings and wants our future US mission teams to join! We will continue and expand the MTM initiative over the coming months.

Enjoy all the pics and videos we are posting to our Facebook album from the MTM events held in each village.

Upcoming Mission Trips: 3 teams are traveling to Guatemala in October - Parkview Baptist, Wilson Lumber and a new team from The Brook Church in Madison. Please be in prayer for these teams as they minister to the families of San Lorenzo, Potrerillo, and Pahuit.

We need your help! As year-end approaches, we are inviting potential capital donors to consider a tax-deductible donation to Awakening Hope to support our ministry. We appreciate the faithful support of all our sponsors and donors, but each of us know someone who, as a new donor, could help grow our mission. In 2026 we are expanding our support of villages through the addition of in-country nurses, a Christian psychologist, additional translators for mission teams, and partnerships with a local medical clinic, and an orphanage. Please share our story with anyone who might consider a year-end (or year-round) donation to Awakening Hope to support our ministry.

If you have any questions about our work or how you can become more involved, please feel free to call or email me directly or contact one of our leaders. Thank you for your ongoing support and prayers. God is moving in Guatemala!!

Gracias!
