Medical Volunteer Opportunities in Guatemala

Heal the body.
Awaken the soul.

Bring your medical expertise to indigenous Mayan villages — and come home changed.

ABOUT THE MISSION

Your skills open a door.
The gospel walks through it.

Awakening Hope partners with U.S. organizations and churches to bring free medical and dental care to remote Mayan villages with little or no access to healthcare. We believe every patient carries a physical need — and a deeper longing that only the gospel of Jesus Christ can meet.

No prior mission trip experience required. Our in-country team handles logistics, translation, and supplies. You bring your clinical skills and a willing heart.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Translation Provided

Our experienced translators interpret in Spanish and indigenous Mayan languages throughout every clinic day.

Organized & Supported

Your village mission leader manages scheduling, supplies, and patient flow from the moment you arrive.

High-volume, High-impact

Clinics serve dozens to hundreds of patients per day — acute and chronic care across all ages.

Gospel-Centered Care

A pastoral team serves alongside you — prayer and the hope of Christ woven through every clinic day.

Two people wearing face masks, a woman in medical scrubs and a man in a dark hoodie, are engaged in conversation outside a building with a turquoise wall and colorful mural. The woman holds papers or cards, and the man holds additional papers or cards, with other people in the background.

A woman with dark hair tied back, wearing a pink polka dot blouse, stands with two young boys. The boy on the left wears a Christmas hat and a pink sports jersey, with a blue arm sling. The boy on the right wears a gray shirt with a construction vehicle graphic. They are indoors next to a stack of chairs and a peach-colored wall.
A dental professional in blue scrubs, wearing glasses, a face mask, and purple gloves, shows a thumbs-up gesture while standing next to a patient lying back in a dental chair. The patient is covered with a colorful, patterned blanket and has a dental bib around their neck. There is another dental staff member in the background wearing black scrubs and a face mask, working nearby.
Two women are sitting and talking in a room with pink walls and green patterned tile floor. One woman, with long dark hair tied back with a pink scrunchie, is listening while the other woman, with shoulder-length brown hair and glasses, is speaking and gesturing with her hands.
